Suitable for General AudiencesQuite simply one of the best performances of this great work I've ever come across: moving, intense and with Abbado's long experience of conducting this work fully apparent despite the youth of the players. Beautifully and accurately played with the complex polyrhythmic counterpoint of the first and last movements rendered in sharp detail and with burning intensity (not a trace of the lazy sludge that affects the over-rated performances of Karajan and Horenstein here). Highly recommended.
