"On this release the former Genesis guitarist, Steve Hackett, reworks some of that band's classic tunes from the '70s. Indeed, 'Genesis Revisited' includes many amazing interpretations that keep the same exuberant atmosphere that made the originals so good, but also takes the music slightly askew into different, but equally interesting areas.
The musicianship is exemplary throughout all of the 11 tracks that are offered here; with the reassuringly familiar strains of "Watcher of the Skies" being particularly satisfying. It sees Tony Levin doing his most thunderous Mike Rutherford interpretation, whilst drummers Chester Thompson & Bill Bruford put in sumptuous performances too; providing the perfect foil for the various soloists + singers.
Other great moments include "Firth of Fifth", the touching "Your Own Special Way", a very interesting "Fountain of Salmacis", "I Know What I Like", and the album closer, "Los Endos".
Lovely selections of material & the stirring renditions thereof make 'Genesis Revisited' an essential aural encounter for Genesis, Peter Gabriel and progressive rock fans alike!"
