Release Date: Thursday 18 June 1992

"Opiate" was the 1992 debut CDEP from the American, "progressive metal" outfit Tool! its 6-tracks of "sonic-rock" are filled with angst, intelligence, and even a little compassion thrown in for good measure.

"This is the 1992 debut CDEP from the American, "progressive metal" outfit Tool, and what a jolly fine slab of steaming riffs and beats it is. Okay, so it's dated a little over the years, but it's still an excellent way to hear where it all started... especially the final track, which this mini-album gets it's name from. "Opiate" (the song) is full of Churning, tribal drumming and grinding guitars - a clear indication as to where this band would eventually gravitate to with their debut album, "Undertow."

"Opiate" contains 6-tracks of pure "sonic-rock", with angst, intelligence, and even a little compassion thrown in for good measure. It comes highly recommended from me, as do all of Tool's recordings."
