Richard Goode is an exclusive Nonesuch recording artist. Over the years he has made more than two dozen recordings ranging from solo and chamber works to lieder and concerti. In 1993, Nonesuch released a 10-CD set of Richard Goode's complete Beethoven Sonatas-- the first-
ever by an American pianist, which was recorded over a decade. The Grammy-nominated set met with widespread critical acclaim, and prompted Michael Kimmelman of The New York Times to state, "…it is hard to think of any other artist on record who has been all at once technically, temperamentally and intellectually as suited to the challenges of these sonatas as Mr. Goode is." Other recording highlights include a duo recording with soprano Dawn Upshaw featuring the Goethe lieder of Schubert, Schumann, Wolf and Mozart, and a series of Mozart piano concertos performed with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. In April 1998, Nonesuch issued a Richard Goode solo recital of music by Chopin. A disc of Bach Partitas was released in February 1999, followed by a recording of Mozart Piano Concertos Nos. 23 and 24, with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. In July 2000 Nonesuch released a recording of the Mozart Piano Concertos Nos. 27 and 19, the fourth in a series of Mozart Piano Concerto recordings Goode has made with Orpheus for the label.

In recent seasons, Goode has appeared with all of the major American orchestras (New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago and Cleveland), as well as the Indianapolis Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic (in an extensive tour of the United Kingdom). In Europe, he has appeared with the Berlin Radio Symphony and the Finnish Radio Symphony, and toured Germany with the Bamberg Symphony. Recent recital engagements include Vienna's legendary Konzerthause, the Salzburg Festival, London's South Band and New York's Carnegie Hall. In late 1992, Goode made his first tour of Japan.

Highlights of Richard Goode's 2000-2001 season include four appearances in New York City and solo recitals throughout the United States. He is the featured soloist in performances of Mozart and Beethoven piano concertos
with the Cleveland Orchestra under the baton of David Zinman, the San Francisco Symphony under Herbert Blomstedt, the Vienna Symphony under Ingo Metzmacher, the BBC Symphony under Jirí Belohlávek (at the BBC Proms) and the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Ivan Fischer at the Schleswig-Holstein and Edinburgh Festivals and again in a five-city tour of England. Mr. Goode will give a series of concerts with Dawn Upshaw along with recitals in Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit, Amsterdam, Germany, France and Italy.

Richard Goode is married to the violinist Marcia Weinfeld. When the Goodes are not on tour (with each new city offering the chance to visit a new or favorite bookstore), they and their collection of some 5000 volumes live in New York City.
