Prog/rock/opera would best describe this French offering in the Enigma vein. Arrangements come courtesy of Capdevielle, producing a big, orchestrated, highly produced effect and intertwined with Emma Shapplin's operatic talents - the effect is powerfully reminiscent of Robert Miles.
Since she was four years old, Emma had always sung operatic arias, with a particular penchant for Mozart. The difference with this work is that she sings in medieval Italian - a leap that adds considerably to the magic of this disc. 'Carmine Meo' has been a huge hit across Europe, and deservedly so.
