Remedy

"Chances are, if you've been anywhere near a dance floor in the last decade you've heard and adored the sound of Basement Jaxx. They are undoubtedly the leading force in U.K. dance music, and have appeared at the "Big Day Out" 2000, 2002, and 2004. Their live show disproved the adage that DJ / producers are just warm props behind techno barriers: they provide live musicians, sexy gypsy dancers, and energetic crowd-pleasing singers... Oh yeah, and those wicked light shows!

Formed in London in 1994, Basement Jaxx (the duo of Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton) initially earned an admirable reputation by re-mixing for the likes of the Pet Shop Boys, Roger Sanchez, and many others. With much preparation, and a growing public demand, they finally released this, their meteoric debut album 'Remedy' in 1999.

It didn't take long for 'Remedy' to be hailed as one of the most important records of the late '90s, winning props from press, fans and club luminaries alike. 'Remedy' showed us that basslines and "classic" tunes weren't mutually incompatible and that dance music could have star quality in spades. The tracks on offer here are amazingly diverse, ranging from the sexy salsa / disco opener, "Rendez-Vu", the Latin / horn-driven "Bingo Bango" through to the reflective "Being With U". Plus of course, you get the huge hits "Jump n' Shout" and "Red Alert".

To this day 'Remedy' remains one of the most confident, exciting & energised full-lengths the dance world has witnessed and Basement Jaxx have since gone on to release several other top-notch progressive house productions."
