Mariah Carey's new album "Rainbow" further solidifies her standing as one of the top selling female artists of the 90's.

After entering the NZ cart at No. 4 "Heartbreaker", the first single from the album went straight ti the top taking the No 1. position. "heartbreaker" made history on 29 September '99 when it became Carey's 14th No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100, a feat rivaled only by The Beatles with 20 and Elvis Presley 18.

The pop Diva has sold more than 150 million Albums worldwide prior to "Rainbow". The expected worldwide ship on "Rainbow" is 5 million copies. Simply put, Mariah's leaving the '90's with a bang. She is one of the most consistent artists making records. This project is easily her most diverse and real and it is off to an amazing start with the huge single "Heartbreaker". There is no doubt about it, but Mariah's move from an MOR artist to r&b is finally complete with the release of this album.

Carey reviews "Rainbow" as her ultimate chance to show all of the colours of who she is as an artist. It reflects an album by an artist who has a lot of different ideas, and a lot of different ways of expressing them.
