The Style Councillor/Godfather of Britpop returns in excellent form!
Paul Weller is back with his first collection of new material in 3 years, his fifth studio album.
Heliocentric is a striking summary of reflections & restatements on life & priciples. Musically it eschews the plugged-in live feel of much of Heavy Soul, for a balance of piano, keyboard & string driven melodies supported by heart-beating bass & drums. The man's guitar is still there of course, but you're feeling it's steel more than hearing it.
The music revolves swirling from the speakers in circles, dubs & echoes, lighting the verse of time & place with off-centre movement. The spokesman of a generation style councillor & Godfather of Britpop has returned with some of his best work to date.
