From the BBC Radio archives!

Britten at Aldeburgh, a five-album series from the Decca and BBC Radio archives, profiles British composer/artist Benjamin Britten and his historic performances in Aldeburgh (home of the famous music festival). The recordings highlight Britten - as soloist, chamber musician and conductor - with legendary artists such as pianist Sviatoslav Richter and mezzo-soprano Janet Baker.
These special recordings have been newly remastered and released for the first time ever on CD to coincide with Aldeburgh Festival 2000.

This is the second disc in the series devoted to the pianistic collaboration between Britten and Richter. The Variations were recorded at a hastily scheduled concert when Richter first visited Aldeburgh in 1964. The following year, at a planned performance, the Fantasy and Grand Duo were recorded.

Tracks:

Variations in A flat major, D813*
Fantasy in F minor, D940
Grand Duo in C major, D812

Parish Church, Aldeburgh, 20 June 1964*
Jubilee Hall, Aldeburgh, 22 June 1965
