'Big Night' is an amazing movie about two Italian brothers who own a restaurant in New Jersey in the 50's, pour all their efforts into drumming up business in their failing establishment. It stars Minnie Driver, Ian Holm & Isabella Rossellini.
This is an outstanding soundtrack which weaves Italiano balladry from Claudio Villa and Matteo Salvatore with the assimilated Italian / American swing-pop of Louis Prima and Keely Smith, Rosemary Clooney's version of the classic "Mambo Italiano" and five jazz themes by Gary DeMichele.
Its best played while the sauces are stirring and the dough is rising when the wine is chilled, and all you have to do is take off your apron with a flourish and dance away your night. It makes you want to sing out loud, tap your feet....and of course, eat!!
