Kenneth Young - Symphony / Virgen de la Esperanza / Dance

Ken Young is a busy man, holding down the Principal Tuba position with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, conducting as much as he can, and completing one or two commissions a year as well. "I like the fact that I get to write what I want to write, and on my own terms. I feel that I've learnt from what I've written, and the fact that I don't write too much means that I don't fall into the trap of repeating myself. I'm very aware of how easy it is to make that mistake."
Whatever the activity, Young's passion for music is evident. In sharing that passion with others - in doing his own 'soul fishing' - Young is putting people in touch with music, and maybe just a little bit more in touch with themselves.
