Morcheeba deliver their most startling music yet & they're happy
Orginally released in July 2000 and certified Gold status in NZ, 'Fragments of Freedom' features the songs 'Rome Wasn't Built in a Day', 'World Looking In' and 'Be Yourself'.
With a new lease of life, Morcheeba deliver their most startling music yet. "This is the kind of music we wanted to make, the kinda stuff we were into before we started - disco, pop, old-skool rap, funk." Paul Godfrey concurs. "We were just sick of the misery, the slow down-tempo songs lose it when you've played them for 3 years. We've always pretty much written pop songs, but we've never written something uplifting. basically because we've see life as mostly bullshit illusion, occasionally tempered by peak experiences. The album is good time music because it felt like being reborn, getting all the entusiasm back that we'd been losing on tour."
The natural effortless vibe extended to the LP's collaborations (Bahamadia on "Good Girl Down", Mr Complex on "Love Sweet Love" & Biz Markie on "In The Hands Of The Gods". 'Fragments Of Freedom' once again proves that you shouldn't doubt Morcheeba's capacity to surprise, startle & seduce for a second.
