Since the peak of her recording career in the 1950s and 1960s, Daphne Walker has been a favourite sound of the South Pacific for some forty years…
Her songs are of love, life and legends of Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa and New Zealand.
Several of the tracks are duets with another great Polynesian performer, George Tumahai. Whilst Bill Sevesi & His Islanders deliver vibrating guitars, strumming ukeleles and infectious rhythms, together, creating the magic of the South Seas.
There is a beautiful version of 'Harere Mai' included on this collection, but for the actual version used by Qantas in their now famous TV campaign, see the Bill Wolfgramm release 'South Sea Rhythm'.
