Three-member hip-hop band representing the sound of things to come
...
The essence of hip-hop is giving a decent message and spreading it out to the world with your best mates - that's just what BEP are here to do.
BEP Empire kicks it off with a good message before kicking into the first single, Weekends. "Esthero" helps out with the occasional female touch throughout. "Ask yourself is it really about the bills?/I'd rather have my soul fulfilled!" Amen!
Get Original sums it up beautifully, and doesn't make the fans feel alienated for having a few dollars owing. Hip-hop pioneers De La Soul are suddenly everywhere again, including the Black Eyed Peas latest release, or in particular, Cali To New York.
"Les Nubian and Mos Def" jump on for some sexy vocals throughout the chorus of On My Own, not that it needed them. From the drum and bass fills mixed with the old school beats to the modern textures floating around, this is one interesting listen.
Go Go is the last of a few that have absolutely no special guests whatsoever, but to break that trend is quite a guest.
"Wyclef Jean" jumps in for Rap Song, and adds his little touch.
To close it off is last years favourite soul queen, Macy Gray, as she throws her… shall we say… original vocal onto Request + Line.
There's a pretty cool bonus track on the end with that silly computer voice that Radiohead made famous and The Drugs made funny.
