Our fifth James MacMillan (b. 1959) release, with the composer proving an eloquent advocate of his own scores as conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, brings us first recordings of two major recent works that perhaps illustrate his credo that "From this frozen, disabled earth I believe the miraculous can appear, that through grace and generosity of spirit".
