With her beautiful voice and winning personality Magdalena Kozená first took her Czech homeland by storm. Last year she was one the discoveries of the year in France and this year Germany has reacted similarly. She has just been awarded the German Echo Award 2000 for Best Newcomer. The UK press had also already been deeply impressed by her first two solo discs and her Czech Album, in its first week, entered the Billboard Classical Chart in the US at No. 18. An impressive start.
Marc Minkowski and Magdalena Kozená have already proven in last year's release of Handel's Roman Motets that they are a winning combination. Here they deliver a passionate and impressive account of three Italian Cantatas, full of excitement and refreshing ideas.
