All of Rawsthorne's chamber music at a great price!!
Alan Rawsthorne, born in 1905, was one of the outstanding English composers of this century. His music was something of an enigma, as he moved from music that was light and immediately attractive, such as the Street Corner overture, to scores that were among the most forward-looking of his time. He wrote in just about every genre, including a large group of works for chamber ensembles, including string quartets and a piano trio. They all fall into the category of his most immediately attractive and approachable scores.
"At Naxos' bargain price, this CD is irresistible."
