Music from deep within the gypsy soul...wild and untamed, they are on fire as one...a stomping performance full of dark passion
Superb - reviewed most favourably in N.Z. Listener. (U.S. Import)
"Music from deep within the gypsy soul...wild and untamed, they are on fire as one...a stomping performance full of dark passion, their virtuosity is phenomenal."
The Times (London)
"Their wild energy is the essence of gypsy music...their set seemed like the the bubbling source of 20th century rhythm...they spun out cadances that recalled bebop, salsa and the polyrhythms of Zimbabwe and Nigeria"
The New York Times
There are three generations of gypsy musicians in Taraf de Haidouks - Band Of Brigands - all from Clejani, Romania, a small secluded village, southwest of Bucharest. The group played it's first concerts outside of Clejani in 1991, and have gone on to record three award-winning albums, tour Europe to great acclaim, and star in the lauded film 'Latcho Drom'. 'Taraf de Haidouks' compiles the best of the bands material onto one disc.
