The continuing series of Poulenc's chamber music
"This is labeled Volume 4 of the complete chamber music. The first five items are actually vocal with chamber ensemble. Only the last two are purely instrumental. The music is pure Poulenc: witty, piquant, direct, and delightful. This collection is a trifle disunited, but that is understandable because of the need for completeness. But Naxos has gathered a group of outstanding young French musicians who give Poulenc their best. They play-and sing-with great feeling. The recordings are first class, the notes detailed. Texts and translations. Outstanding."
