Elton's 40th album - and best in over a decade!
His 40th album! Elton returns with his trademark sound of those classic '70s records.
On 'Songs From The West Coast', he strips the songs back to lyric-driven (Bernie Taupin's words) emotional piano songs. There are rockier exceptions ("The Wasteland" with it's blues invocations) but overall this album is highly melodic and moving. it is easily some of Elton's best material in over a decade.
For a typical taste of 'Songs From The West Coast' , check out the wonderful "I Want Love" - some fine songwriting indeed!
