Dame Felicity Lott and Graham Johnson are among the very best loved artists hailing from the United Kingdom and have been at the forefront of performing song recitals throughout the world in recent times. through their consummate artistry they have delighted audiences with their insightful interpretations, often exploring areas of repertoire that have either been neglected or forgotten by others.

Summertime brings together a collection of much loved songs (with one or two intriguing surprises) and spans a repertoire drawing on works written throughout three centuries, including such evergreen favourites as George Gershwin's summertime, Roger Quilter's love's philosophy and Franz Schubert's 'Who is Sylvia' alongside Leonard Bernstein's 'My House' and many others.

Recorded at champs hill, nestling in the beautiful Sussex countryside, the collection is designed to work as a coherent recital compilation in its own right. the juxtaposition of works from different periods and nationalities takes us on a magical journey through song, with John Rutter's 'The Lord Bless You and Keep You' providing an inspired and thought-provoking conclusion for a programme that encompasses some of the quintessential gems from the British, French, German and American song repertoire.

"Three centuries of song are represented here. But such is the skill of Johnson's programming that the entire recital seems to be a single sustained exhalation of rapture and reflection."
