'I cannot imagine better advocacy for it that this recording...'-Gramophone

'I hope readers will try it. Certainly I cannot imagine better advocacy for it that this recording...'
- Gramophone

Matthias Bamert conducts the next release in Chandos' highly successful Contemporaries of Mozart series which includes the premiere recording of Wranitzky's Grand Characteristic Symphony.

Chandos' unique Contemporaries of Mozart series has been highly praised and several discs in the series have been featured as Editor's Choice in Gramophone. The series has made available a wealth of previously unrecorded eighteenth-century music.

Wranitzky's connection with Mozart is well documented. The two composers were friends and Wranitzky's first opera, Oberon, König der Elfen, at least partially influenced Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. Mozart and Wranitzky belonged to the same Masonic Lodge and after Mozart's death in 1791, Wranitzky helped his widow, Constanze, with negotiations for publishing his music.

Tracks:

Grand Characteristic Symphony for the Peace with the French Republic, Op. 31
