Release Date: Wednesday 20 March 2002
Following her recent Gramophone Award winning release of the Schoenberg Piano Concerto, Mitsuko Uchida returns to her beloved Schubert for the penultimate in her series of Schubert Piano Sonatas.
Mitsuko Uchida's concerts and recordings of the Schubert piano repertoire have been enthusiastically received everywhere she goes, with the discs often being selected as a top choice amongst recorded versions. This disc, Volume 7 (of 8), includes the Sonata in E flat (D568) and the 6 Moments musicaux (D780) and was recorded in the Großer Saal at the Musikverein, Vienna in August 2001.

Editor's Choice (Gramophone Magazine Sept 2002)
"Mitsuko Uchida's Schubert piano sonata survey for Philips has been a leisurely one, but also a deeply satisfying one (there is one more disc to come). It's tempting to think that the cycle gets better as it progresses - and even if this relatively early work doesn't scale the heights of the great final sonata Uchida makes a strong case for it. Her reading of the Moments musicaux is very powerful: she searches out the riches of these miniatures with a broad tonal palette." (Gramophone)

"Uchida offers one of the finest new piano recordings to have come my way for some months."
