The Stage
'Gone (thank heavens) is the foliage littering the stage…gone are the unbecoming capes for Lysander and Demetrius and the brief pink skirts for Titania's retinue…at the risk of assassination by Balanchine purists I have to say that I found Patricia Barker a more winning Titania than the spectacular but rather cool Suzanne Farrell. Here it somehow adds to the pleasure to see it (the pas de deux) danced so beautifully by two dancers of whom you may never have heard, Louise Nadeau and Olivier Wevers…'
