Strictly Ballroom (Original Soundtrack)

"A life lived in fear is a life half-lived" 1992's Strictly Ballroom, the story of a dance competition that first revealed director Baz Luhrman's imaginative, eclectic style is a fantastic film about celebration and love that not only wowed the film critics and audiences the world over, it produced a fabulous soundtrack to boot!

The movie achieved 8 AFI Awards as well as the coveted 'Priz De La Jeunesse' at the Cannes Film Festival. From the film the first Albert
movie soundtrack was born, with the centrepiece being the remake of the John Paul Young hit 'Love Is In The Air'.

The movie was the No.1 box office hit in Australia in 1992 and the single reached No.2 on the Australian charts, and went on to enjoy considerable worldwide success.

Most of the soundtrack has a Spanish dance flavour, in keeping with the theme (and the plot necessities) of the film. Included here is Doris Day's "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps (Quizas Quizas Quizas)," but there is also room for a performance of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" by the film's female star Tara Morice along with Mark Williams, as well as an excerpt from The Blue Danube.
