A truly outstanding jazz dance release
Switzerland's Robert Jan Meyer is the mastermind behind Minus 8.
Producer, remixer and DJ, Robert Jan Meyer has been heavily associated with the likes of Goldie, Grooverider, DJ Krust and Bad Company from the beginning of his career.
With the birth of Minus 8, Meyer took his Drum & Bass influences and blended them with the downbeat and nu jazz styles of Europe.
His first two albums were released on DJ Cams Inflammable label, he now releases material through Compost Records and feels right at home likes of Jazzanova and Koop.
14 tracks that make up Minuit could so easily have appeared on Llorca's New Comer, Peace Orcheastra's S/T or Koop's Waltz For Koop
It's perfect example of what happens when musicians from the jazzier end of the spectrum, shed the band format and turn to samplers and electronic equipment
The combination flute, sax, Rhodes, Hammond organ and the luscious tones of guest vocalist Billie, make this a truly outstanding jazz dance release.
Another excellent release from Compost Records.
