'Iain Quinn is outstanding and his skilful, polished use of the Winchester Cathedral organ makes this one of the best CDs you'll hear of that instrument'
- Gramophone
This is a disc of rarely heard music for an instrument which was side-lined by the Eastern Orthodox Church. It gives an insight into the jewels that have remained hidden and a glimpse of what may have been, given a more tolerant attitude to musical instruments within worship.
The programme contains premiere recordings of works by Grechaninov and Rachmaninov and the first recording of the original version for organ of Shostakovich's 'Credo' from The Gadfly.
Cardiff-born Iain Quinn makes regular performances at venues worldwide. His extensive repertoire of standard and contemporary works has brought new audiences to organ recitals and he has represented the UK at international organ festivals. This is Iain's first recording for Chandos.
