The Sadler's Wells' Mikado is traditional in the best sense, bringing a humorous sparkle to the proceedings which gives great delight. Clive Revell is a splendid Ko-Ko; John Heddle Nash is an astounding Pish-Tush, and it is partly because of him that the Chippy-chopper Trio is so effective."

"A nicely recorded version with a strong cast. All sound as if they are thoroughly enjoying themselves. Denis Dowling (Pooh-Bah) has one of strongest voices but lacks emotion. Clive Revill revels in the part of Ko-Ko and his scenes with Jean Allister as Katisha are a joy. The orchestra is nicely balanced but there is a little distortion at the arrival of the Mikado"
