Sharon Bezaly, recently named the Cannes Classical Award Young Artist of the Year, returns with the second volume in what the American Record Guide has described as "one of the most interesting series going".
Rave reviews accompanied the release of the first volume in this series - A-Z of the solo flute. It earned an "Empfehlung" in Klassik Heute and a "Recomendado" in CD Compact; was given the Star of the Month in FonoForum and the Golden Tuning Fork in Diapason 7-8/2002; the magazine Pizzicato, finally, termed it "Supersonic". And as Gramophone commented: "To those who love the sound of the modern flute, flawlessly played, this admirably recorded collection will be very satisfying".
Sharon Bezaly, recently named the Cannes Classical Award Young Artist of the Year, returns with the second volume in what the American Record Guide has described as "one of the most interesting series going". Like its predecessor, this disc combines music from the Baroque - Boismortier - with modern works for the instrument, rperesented here by a striking diversity of styles. The disc introduces us to many new playing techniques and sonorities yet the technical difficulties of these composers' demands appear to vanish into the air as Miss Bezaly, with all the insouciance of a modern Pan, breathes lightly upon her golden staff. The disc has been beautifully recorded in a wooden church deep in the forests of central Sweden. The calm beauty of the venue is mirrored in these magical performances.
