"Martin Fröst is a major emerging artist gifted with both the tools and the talent...Delightful" (American Record Guide)

Martin Fröst is, indeed, the Pied Piper of the Opera. He first came to prominence in a unique role as a clarinet-playing actor in an opera based on the story of the Pied Piper of Hamlin (Der Rattenf≤nger von Hameln). Arranging arias for a melody instrument was popular in the nineteenth century and the clarinet, with its range of (plaintive) emotions was especially well suited to the task. Martin Fr∫st brings all his "natural" virtuosity to this programme of beguiling tunes from the gilded world of grand opera. And he finds a range of nuances in his instrument which even the greatest singers would be pressed to match. A delight!

Tracks:

Gioacchino Rossini:
Introduction, Theme and Variations for Clarinet and Orchestra (based on the opera "La donna del lago").
