The debut album for Christchurch five-piece. From old-school funk with catchy horn lines to laid-back jazz-funk and house-style inspired tracks
Out of Christchurch comes the full-length debut release from funksters P-Bass Expressway! Formed in '99 as a studio project by Nava Thomas (Confucious) and Ariel White, P-Bass Expressway are now a fluid, live, five-piece funk act.
Inspired by classic funk artists, such as The Blackbyrds, Herbie Hancock and The Fatback Band, 'Express Funk' showcases P-Bass' own style of funk, blended with elements of jazz and lashings of an original NZ flavour… think a super-charged Booker T and the MG's tucking into a steaming hot hangi!
'Express Funk' takes the listener through a variety of funk styles from old-school funk with catchy horn lines to laid-back jazz-funk and even some house-style inspired tracks.
