Bargrooves: Frosted

Showcasing the coolest house sounds from the hottest bar systems around the globe.

This double disc collection (and the third in Bargrooves' quartet of 'spaces in special places' releases) takes its inspiration from West Coast soul, courtesy of guest DJ Vincent Kwok from San Francisco (via Australia) who joins resident mixer Ben Sowton for a quality selection of sexy deep house cuts.

On the first CD, Ben has chosen an array of underground flavours and gorgeous grooves. Choice tracks include Paper faves Crazy Penis reworking Zorg's 'Lady', segueing sweetly into Greens Keepers and the Lance De Sardi re-rub of 'Mesopotamian'. Halo's sublime 'Lakeshore Dr.' follows with Tiza B, Richard Earnshaw, Mister O, Groove Junkies and Alan Barratt's crisply produced 'King Of Rock' providing bass funk, house loveliness and deep vibes aplenty for this diverse and discerning mix.

Our man from San Fran takes command of the decks on disc two for a blend of house music deeply imbued with Californian soul: a sunny style blending Latino loops, jubilant vocals, guitar grooves and feelgood funk. Standout selections include Full Intention's stripped-down version of the classic 'Everybody Loves The Sunshine', NRK's gem 'Berimbau De Osahna', Jimmy Somerville's ace Sounds Of Life dub mix of 'Something To Live For' and Tony Lindsay's 'Love Train' exclusive to this mix. Vincent's own 'Love Is The Answer' struts up to disco house don Dave Lee, whose 'Begin 2 Luv U' under his Joey Negro moniker is true to Lee's funky form.

Bargrooves 'Frosted' is nothing short of essential to wind, wiggle and have deliciously wanton thoughts to. This is seriously seductive deep house music.
