Joseph "Amp" Fiddler has a CV most musicians would kill for… he's worked live with the likes of Jamiroquai, Money Mark, Fishbone, Brand New Heavies and Was Not Was, recorded with George Clinton, Prince, Seal, Maxwell, Too Short and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, lent a helping hand to Carl Craig's famed Detroit Experiment and has spent 12 years playing keyboards with the P-Funk All stars. Nice work, if you can get it.

'Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly' is his exceptional debut album, encompassing the many flavours of his varied talent, from soul, jazz, r n' b, funk and hip hop, and featuring guests George Clinton, Only Child, JayDee and Raphael Saadiq.

Two teaser EPs released in 2003 hinted at his solo promise and attracted critical acclaim from Jazzanova, Giles Peterson (who invited Amp to perform live on his Radio 1 show on BBC) and Kruder and Dorfmeister.

So what does it sound like? Warm, organic, funky Rhodes-led soul, with more than a hint of hip hop and jazz, coloured with a pure 70s sensibility - think Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone and Shuggie Otis. Amp's distinctive voice, despite it's raw edge - or perhaps because of it's raw edge - carries his message brilliantly and always leaves a sweet taste, while the musicianship on the album is nothing short of outstanding.

'Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly' is seriously seductive, sophisticated, genuinely soulful music for the discerning listener.
