"One should add that the Borodin's Trio's playing matches as well, being passionately responsive to the music's long-drawn-out melancholy and to its robustness."

"The piano dominates in both scores and one can scarcely complain if it does so in the recording. There were some passages on the LP, however, where one felt that this went too far, and this is put right by the CD, the strings always coming through with great effect. The Trio in G minor is a remarkable piece for a youth, but in fact both works are expansive and elegiac, their acute expressiveness being matched by the generous Chandos acoustic. One should add that the Borodin's Trio's playing matches as well, being passionately responsive to the music's long-drawn-out melancholy and to its robustness."
