October 2003 marked the 50th anniversary of the death of one of England 's most beloved artists, Kathleen Ferrier. The occasion was marked with a new documentary about this most English of singers (shown first on BBC4 and repeated on BBC2) and Decca released a 2-CD tribute set (475 078-2). The remastered 2-CD set featured many of Ferrier's most popular recordings of songs and arias with which she was so closely linked and to date it has shipped well over 50,000 units.
