Approximately a year before his untimely death, as he had done with the box set 'Love, God, Murder', Johnny began assembling a list of songs that represented his best work in what he considered to be "life lesions."

The compilation process gave him much joy and much aggravation. How could he pare down his thoughts on this topic (in the form of hundreds of songs) down to a single CD?

After many months of deliberation, John finally had his list ready - just weeks before he was to pass away.
