In London, his performances of concertos by Villa-Lobos and Rodrigo (Aranjuez) were called "arguably the finest live performances of the works in question ever heard in London: clean, strong, eloquently phrased and delivered with unfailingly beautiful tone.:" Guitar Magazine comments: "His technique seems to know no bounds."

The public and press now accord him the reverence granted to all great instrumental masters. The New York Times calls his playing "virtuosic but inevitably dignified" and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says, "Romero is musically secure, technically in command and often dazzling in his virtuosity."

In demand as an extraordinary artist in major cultural centers worldwide, Mr. Romero is invited to perform annually in cities including London, Paris, Vienna, Madrid, Munich, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. Whether he appears as a recitalist, or as a soloist with such leading orchestras as the New York Philharmonic, The Cleveland orchestra, Royal Philharmonic, or the Concertgebouw Orchestra, his driving intensity and flawless control confirm his status as a true master of the guitar.

Born in Malaga, Spain in 1946, Angel Romero has been performing since his professional debut at age six. He made his U. S. debut at the Hollywood Bowl when he was sixteen. In 1986 Romero was knighted with the highest civilian honor bestowed by Spain, the Grand Order of Civil Merit. This cross of merit was handed down to him by approval of the Spanish government and upon the death of the composer Torroba-at his request, thus making Angel Romero the youngest recipient of this honor to date.
