Misfits Of Science came about when Colossal aka 2nd Persona and Optimus got together to make hip-hop tracks that are a "misfit to what everyone else in the industry is doin' right now".

Influenced by Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, Roots, Tribe Called Quest and some exotic seventies material (Steely Dan among others), they call themselves "word-play MCs", rather than free-stylers. Making their own beats, they are button pushers who create tracks with skilful musical wit, and intend to disseminate their production skills through the hip-hop scene within the near future.
