- Dazed and Confused
Steeped in American funk and soul, Jamaican production aesthetics, Afrobeat, psychedelic rock, late '60s and early '70s movie soundtracks and lots of jazz, Connie Price and The Keystones have melded together their favourite music into a style all their own. Here, they present this mélange of musical genres with the absolutely wonderful 'Wildflowers' album.
The brains behind the formation of the group belong to cult guitarist and producer Dan Ubick, who has spent years in LA's own live-DJ ensemble Breakestra, as well as contributing to Macy Gray's 'On How Life Is', DJ Babu's 'Duck Season Vol. 2' and Madlib's Blue Note LP, 'Shades Of Blue'.
Also featured on the sole vocal track are Lester Abrams and Leslie Smith from long-lost funk troupe LA Carnival.
