'And The Gospel Of Progress' is the stunning debut from Texan singer-songwriter Micah [pron. my-kah] P. Hinson, produced by The Earlies, under their Names On Records guise. As producers and arrangers of the album, their trademark of lush strings, beautiful keyboards and eerie backdrops harmonise perfectly with Micah's hones and exposed style.
Some collaborations are simply destined for greatness, however the record belongs to Micah, never losing sight of his own unique voice: his twisted, dark tales of love and loss are matched only by a cracked vocal and songwriting that belies his 22yrs. Drawing inspiration from his young yet eventful life [jailed at 18 and homeless at 19], Micah has managed to create a truly timeless sounding record. With the simplest of bittersweet lyrics, he evokes the strongest of emotions.
'And The Gospel Of Progress' is brimful of classics and a debut to hold dear and explore on return visits, over and over.
