Outside Closer

'Outside Closer' foregrounds a new directness and boldness for Hood. The Leeds 4-piece have made a bright, brave and modern record, full of surprise, originality, soul and venom - just like "pop" music should be!

Produced in Leeds with Choque Hosein [ex-Black Star Liner] and featuring a no star cast of local musicians, 'Outside Closer' is a move away from electronics and towards a more song oriented approach. A stylistic shift from their previous album 'Cold House', the songs found here astutely evoke the minutiae of their immediate environment.

Hood find themselves in a unique point in modern UK sound craft: mapping the territory of their native Yorkshire in sometimes haunted, sometimes passively angry, but always abstract and melodic song cycles, the Hood sound is rural, English and submerging. Somehow ancient and modern, it clicks and beats around a consciousness, space and time of it's own.

Firm favourites with both deconstructed backpackers, the likes of cLOUDDEAD and Mogwai [Hood having toured with both], each Hood release is an ongoing and more confident statement of intent: a half-remembered walk in the country, an unexpected chord sequence and a band sounding like no other, standing on its own.
