The eagerly awaited debut from Alex Smoke, the potent 'Incommunicado', is finally here - and what a masterpiece it is.

Part of a generation of producers blurring the boundaries between minimal, techno and electronica, Smoke is already a name to watch in the underground electronic circuit and with 'Incommunicado' he's about to get the recognition he deserves. This music may live on the dancefloor but occupies so much more - drawing from a myriad of influences including dub, electro, grime, latin and experimental pop, Smoke has concocted a deeply emotive album that is mysterious, melancholic and inspiring.

There is a real edge of introspection and emotion to this shimmering machine music with soul. Spine-tingling strings are evident throughout and tracks such as singles "6am" and "Lost In Sound" are stunning and poignant.

With 'Incommunicado' Alex Smoke has defined his own unique sound, which, while making a respectful nod to pioneers like Matthew Dear, Villalobos, Luciano and Lawrence, whom Alex regards as very influential, is very much his own voice. Make no mistake, this is an accomplished debut from a talent whose star is shining bright, right here in 2005.
