One of the most ambitious recording projects in history reissued on SACD!
Since Mozart remains ever-popular with music lovers recordings of his music are in continuous demand. Brilliant Classics has started to reissue its complete Mozart Edition. It originally appeared in 26 volumes on 170 ordinary stereo discs over a period of 18 months. But the recordings were already made with the SACD-technique.
So now we present this series in superior quality on SACD's. The first volume with the complete symphonies is already out.
These were at the time newly recorded on period instruments for this project by the Mozart Akademie Amsterdam conducted by Jaap ter Linden.
The complete piano concertos are next and can be ordered now.
Mozart's instrument was the piano. As a performing artist he premiered many of his own works for piano and orchestra. No wonder that his 27 piano concertos belong to the very best he ever wrote. They also count as the standard for the classical solo concerto. The perfect balance between piano and orchestra has never been surpassed by any other composer.
On 11 discs we present every single known work by Mozart for piano and orchestra. In addition to the more and less regularly performed 25 concertos with a single soloist we include some Rondos and both concertos for 2 and 3 pianos and orchestra.
Also the three early concertos K107, written by the child prodigy Wolfgang Amadeus and based on piano sonatas by Johann Christian Bach are included (as are these sonatas themselves). On this recording these concertos are played on the instrument they were composed for, the harpsichord.
Pieter-Jan Belder is the soloist.
Also excellent performances by Derek Han and the famous Philharmonia Orchestra under Paul Freeman. They recorded all concertos for piano and orchestra for this series.
The concertoes for 2 and 3 pianos are played by prominent pianists Zoltán Kocsis, Deszö Ranki and András Schiff and the Hungarian State Orchestra under János Ferencsik.
