Boccherini: Cello Concertos Vol 2 Nos. 5 - 8

"The star of this CD is Tim Hugh, the British cellist who is currently the principal cellist of the London Symphony Orchestra. A student of Aldo Parisot and Jacqueline Du Pre, he received an MA in medicine from Cambridge. He plays with a rich tone, secure in both upper and lower registers, emotionally expressive without the sometimes seductive exaggeration of Du Pre. The more I listened to these ingratiating concertos, the more I appreciated the warmth and clarity he brought to these sunny and beautiful works.
