With the release of their debut album 'These Cities, Our Graves', New Zealand band Antagonist offer local metal influenced hardcore at its best.

Antagonist has been at the fore front of a movement to salvage and rebuild the crumbling New Zealand Hardcore scene. With members involved in a couple of other bands (The Warpath, Capone), finding and establishing new venues, setting up a multitude of all-ages shows in Auckland & Hamilton, bringing countless international acts to NZ, the establishment of street teams to promote upcoming shows, helping run the weekly "Punk'n'Hardcore Show” radio show on Hamilton radio station The Generator, setting up their own promotions company (Anchor Promotions) and spending every spare minute printing and pasting posters around the upper North Island, they are a band on a mission.

With such determination and drive it is easy to see how Antagonist are New Zealand's most prominent and productive underground act without even touching on their musical abilities and live show. It's no wonder this band has supported such acts as Death by Stereo (USA), Throwdown (USA), Comeback Kid (USA), Shai Hulud (USA), Darkest Hour (USA), Parkway Drive (AUS) and has now been confirmed to support Most Precious Blood for their Queensland leg of their Australian tour in July.

With the release of their debut album 'These Cities, Our Graves', expect metal influenced hardcore at its best. Two guitarists bouncing off each other, with engaging euro breaks, epic melodic scales, flowing into brutal breakdowns and punk influenced groove, held together by tight, precise and technical drumming, solid bass lines and antagonising vocals which are laced with social / political comment.
