Wife and husband team Vishnevskaya and Rostropopvich recorded just one recital LP on DG together
- an evocative programme of Russian song, featuring the contrasting art of Rachmaninov and Glinka. It is now appearing on CD for the first time ever, as a tribute to this great artist for her 80th birthday.
'One of the outstanding Russian singers', and 'a versatile and fascinating artist', according to a recent writer, Galina Vishnevskaya has also recorded the roles of Tosca and Liza (in Pique Dame) for Deutsche Grammophon, available on 477 5599 (Opera House series) and 463 679-2 (The Originals) respectively.
