CSS' debut album is a thick, pulsating thing full of haphazard synths, bubbling percussion, wire-thin guitars, pure excitement and a come-on vocal call and response that tears down any attempt at posturing.

To tell the story of a band which has no story clearly involves a slight amount of background - and no small amount of sleight of hand. A young group from Sao Paulo, Brazil. A sudden sense of urgency and movement. Without a story, how could it happen? Where to begin?

CSS's 'Cansei de Ser Sexy', or "Tired of Being Sexy," is their debut for Sub Pop. It is equal parts rock mantra and throwback into something new, transcending boundaries of genre and geography. It careers full speed into dance territory, into the unknown and untouched, to emerge all hot and bothered with wild electro-rock. A genuine genre clash from a group unaware of boundaries.

Pretension? Absent. It is quick, tightly-wound, unfastened and supreme. Not a sneer but a giggle. This is pop of and for the 21st century.

Over loose beats and quick programming, CSS sing in English - not their native Portuguese - and claim their scene is not Sao Paulo, but the internet. Check "Meeting Paris Hilton" or "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above". CSS make entirely clear their love for the glorification of pop culture. And it's this which makes them so incredibly interesting!

It is difficult to explain CSS's appeal without sounding a little extravagant. They're wholly unafraid - shameless in the best of ways - and the album is a thick, pulsating thing full of haphazard synths, bubbling percussion, wire-thin guitars, PURE excitement and a come-on vocal call and response that tears down any attempt at posturing.
