U2 had been a major entity in the rock music world for many years by the time they released the 'Achtung Baby' album. Yet, it was the 'Zooropa' album (and tour) that brought the band from popular rock act to multimedia force as their concerts began to include the video screen as an important part of the show.
This 1993 concert in Sydney, Australia captures the Irish rockers in prime form, performing such hits as "Numb", "Even Better Than the Real Thing", "One", "Bullet the Blue Sky", and "Where the Streets Have No Name".
From its dazzling opening moments featuring hundreds of video monitors, 'Zoo TV' was an elaborate multi-media show designed by Willie Williams; inspired by the video age, cable TV chaff, 24 hour hard news - it set out to satirise the mid-'90s media overload. Originally filmed on analogue video, the film has been transferred to a digital format with the pictures re-graded and cleaned. Great care has been taken to maintain the original look by simply enhancing it with an added degree of sharpness and contrast unavailable when originally filmed. The DVD also features PCM stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, and DTS 5.1 Surround Audio.
