Akron / Family have morphed yet again - into something comfortably unfamiliar, by turns wild, gentle, raging, hilarious, elated, meditative and sometimes simply beautiful.
"Since Akron / Family's March '05 debut, the band has played hundreds and hundreds of shows across the known world, recorded a split album with Angels of Light (serving as backing band on the flipside of the disc), cut a few home-brewed albums to sell on the road, and generally worked themselves to death - or at least into some new unrecognizable entity. And now this: an album, over thirty-five minutes long, that shows them morphing yet again, into something comfortably unfamiliar, by turns wild, gentle, raging, hilarious, elated, meditative and sometimes simply beautiful.
For instance, the song "Gone Beyond” is the sort of palliative hymn I'd love to hear while drifting through the universe, having unexpectedly jettisoned the meat-grinder of earthly existence, whereas "Blessing Force” begs to be played repeatedly at sense-pummeling volume. Ultimately, Akron / Family sorts out these inner conflicts, and consequently, 'Meek Warrior' is a pretty stunning document.”
