'Forward' is the second solo album by TM Juke aka Alex Cowan, and it's a jaw-dropping collection of freshly squeezed electronic soul that confirms his status as one of the UK's most prodigious young talents.
"Cowan navigates this genre expertly, infusing his arrangements with healthy doses of soul and jazz, and alternating vocal tracks with colorful, intriguing soundscapes… richer and more intricate than his previous releases.”

'Forward' is the second solo album by TM Juke aka Alex Cowan, and it's a jaw-dropping collection of freshly squeezed electronic soul that confirms his status as one of the UK's most prodigious young talents.
Known for his work on Alice Russell's breakthrough album 'My Favourite Letters', 'Forward' is the product of a musical mind that refuses to sit still. Filtering disparate musical genres into one coherent and incredibly catchy whole, Cowan has taken another step away from his roots, asserting himself as a songwriter and producer par excellence.
Combining the benefits of a comprehensive musical education with his love of the DIY laptop aesthetic, 'Forward' resonates brightly with crisp beats, earthy instrumentation and spellbinding arrangements.
Cowan's debut 'Maps From The Wilderness' ['02] marked him as a remarkable talent. However, following a couple of years working with other artists, DJing and touring internationally his sound has developed – though he retains his uncanny ear for a great hook. As such, 'Forward' is arguably his most original and accomplished work to date.
The album features vocals from Elmore Judd, Sophie Faricy [TM Juke live band], Kinny [Kinny and Horne], new face Naim and of course Alice Russell – each one hand-picked by Cowan to bring a distinct flavour to the proceedings.
As a producer, Cowan draws on funk, soul, hip-hop and jazz influences, but adds a greater depth and maturity with immaculate arrangements that belie his 25yrs and give his work a strikingly original yet strangely familiar feel.
Long may That Man Juke let his imagination roam, free from the constraints of fashion and expectation.
"A beautiful record, steeped in old soul and funk, with a smattering of sweet vocals and electronica.”
